Guangdong Nortel Telecommunication Equipment Co., Ltd. (Guangdong Nortel) was 
officially founded in March 1995. It is a core business company invested by th
e global communication giant Nortel in China, dedicated to introducing high-en
d technology and actively promoting localization of research and development, 
production and service. With their cutting-edge telecommunication technology, 
reliable product quality and specialist client services, Guangdong Nortel has 
become the largest overseas research and development, production and service b
ase of Nortel, providing high quality products and services to customers in Ch
ina and around the world. 

In November 1994, under the support of Chinese and Canadian government, incorp
oration contract of Guangdong Nortel was formally executed in Beijing. The ear
ly stage was mainly involved with production of DMS. In order to meet the requ
irement of market development, Guangdong Nortel took the lead in setting up th
e first localized production line of GSM and CDMA in 1999, and exported GSM eq
uipments to wireless service provider Ufone of Pakistan for the first time in 
2002. By year 2007, sales revenue of Guangdong Nortel reached 31 billion Yuan,
 among which export sales amounted to around 400 million USD. Its products hav
e been served to across 27 provinces, municipals, and regions nationwide and o
ther countries around the globe. In addition, 2007, Guangdong Nortel pioneered
 in setting up the first hardware design laboratory in Great China and adopted

To fulfill its commitment to the customers and to provide secure and reliable 
communication technology to users, Guangdong Nortel R&D Center was formally es
tablished in December 1995 in Guangzhou. As one of the two major research and 
development centers of Nortel in China, Guangdong Nortel R&D Center has undert
aken the great task of providing technical support and service for business pa
rtners in the great China region and Asia-Pacific region, by accomplishing var
ious R&D tasks with its highly adaptive procedure. To strengthen its R&D compe
tence, maintain the leading status of technological innovation, Guangdong Nort
el has continuously increased its investment in research and development to op
timize its environment. In June 2008, R&D new lab has been put into use. The r
esearch and development personnel and engineer team will be expanded to over 1
300 people focusing on the applications of wireless networks, NGN networks and
 multi-media services, as well as improving support for operators, application service providers and other customers through unified communic
ation platform. By that time, Guangdong Nortel will further explore its resear

Position1: 4G Simulation System Designer 

(Work Location: Guangzhou) 

Responsibility:
-	4G simulator development including simulator functional architecture, librar
ies
-	4G simulation algorithms development, define and derive technical requiremen
ts based on feature contents and customer requirements. 
-	Development of the verification procedures and test cases in order to valida
te compliance to requirements.
-	Conduct simulations and provide analysis and recommendations based on simula
tion results to feed into product design, standards, and customers.
-	Provide systems design input (requirements, algorithms, procedures, guidelin
es) to SW designers 
-	Author and review of technical documentation/report of the domain ownership 
area.

Requirements: 
•	Masters or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or computer engineer
ing
•	Expert in broadband wireless communications, with emphasis on 4G (WiMa
x, LTE, UMB) technologies: OFDMA, MIMO, signaling processing, advance receiver
 techniques, advanced antenna techniques is preferred
•	Previous experiences in 3G (EVDO, UMTS, HSPA, etc.) are also valuable

•	Familiar with 4G standards
•	Excellent technical knowledge in wireless protocols: Physical, MAC, an
d upper layers is preferred.
•	Expertise in wireless simulations and modeling: channel models, mobili
ty, performance/capacity evaluation, algorithm development.
•	Fluent spoken English and good writing skill
•	Digital Comm theory, channel coding, channel estimation, Filtering & D
etection, Queuing, Network and Probability theory, Random processes and Signal
 Processing. 
•	Experience (either academic or industrial) in algorithm development is
 required. Previous use of OPNET, Matlab, and C or C++ is preferred. 
•	Experience in DSP software development & implementation is highly desi
rable. 
•	Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
•	Excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively across multi-funct
ional teams


Position2: 4G Simulation System Senior Designer
 
(Work Location: Guangzhou) 

Responsibility:
-	4G Simulation software development planning based on the requirements from i
nternal and external customers, developing and capturing the derived technical
 and functional Requirements for the projects.
-	Lead and drive simulation SW development including simulator functional arch
itecture, libraries, simulation integrations, algorithms development, and simu
lator capacity/performance specification. 
-	Lead the development of the verification document and the overall test strat
egy of the sw features that impact owned domain in order to validate complianc
e to requirements.
-	Provide analysis and recommendations based on simulation results to feed int
o product design, standards, and customers.
-	Act as the point of contact interacting with multiple functional teams for r
equests to review project deliverables 
-	Prime the creation and review of Design Effort (DE).
-	Advise, mentor and train other system designers working in the domain.
-	Maintain up-to-date technical documentation of the domain ownership area.
-	Key reviewer of all design Documentations relating to the owned domain

Requirements: 
•	Master or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or computer engineeri
